This means that the tension from the screws when you tighten them is transferred to the four sides of the box to deliver absolute mast fuselage rigidity. The angle of the side walls have been designed to be outside the cone of friction, to make sure that the mast fuselage connection never becomes stuck. The mast fuselage screws are socket heads, this ensures that the screws are getting only vertical tension when assembled, and are not participating in the centering of the mast fuselage like a countersunk screw would do.
